Soldiers’ Angels and BURNCO Partner for Military and Veteran Food Distribution in Denver
Feb. 2 event will serve 160 Denver-area Veteran, Active Military, Guardsmen, and Reservist families
Â
DENVER, COLORADO – The national nonprofit Soldiers’ Angels is hosting a military-connected food distribution on Feb. 2. For the fourth year in a row, BURNCO has donated $50,000 to support Soldiers’ Angels programs and services in Denver, including the Denver Military and Veteran Food Distribution program. The event will provide 160 pre-registered Veteran and military-connected families with, on average, 75 lbs. of fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and non-perishable food items.
Now in its tenth year, Soldiers’ Angels’ monthly food distribution has expanded beyond Veterans to also include active-duty Service Members, Guardsmen, and Reservists in need of support. As evidenced in a recent Rand Corporation report, Veterans are not the only military-connected people in need of food support. Researchers determined that active-duty Service Members and their families have a higher rate of food insecurity than their civilian counterparts, with 25.8% of Service Members reported as food insecure in 2018, compared to only 9% of civilians.
HOW TO REGISTER: Low-income Veterans, Service Members, Guardsmen, and Reservists must pre-register at SoldiersAngels.Org/Denver to receive a time slot to attend the distribution.
