Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Wheat Ridge Historical Society opens its Historical Park for guided and self-guided tours. Led by knowledgeable volunteer historians, these tours take visitors through seven iconic structures—including the Pioneer Sod House (built in the 1860s by James Baugh), the restored log cabin, the original post office, water tower, and more. Interpretive signs at each site offer rich context, but the guided experience provides enhanced insight into the lives of early homesteaders, building techniques of the era, and the community’s agricultural heritage.
Tour admission is a modest $2 for kids and $5 for adults (cash or check only), with donations gratefully accepted. For larger groups (of 10 or more), it’s recommended to call ahead at 303‑421‑9111 so the Society can ensure enough staff are on-site to provide a smooth experience.
